This photo was taken at the annual Skyshow in Perth celebrating Australia Day on January 26th 2011. As we arrived only 15 minutes before the fireworks began, we weren’t able to secure a good spot for photography. I also knew that I was going to struggle to take any good photos being on the north side of river (the city lights were at my back for those that don’t know Perth) but I thought I ‘d still give it a go. I wasn’t overly happy with my results that night but I did like this photo in particular, which was actually the first photo that I took that night!
There was a predicted crowd of approximately 250 000 people for the Skyshow although probably less due to the strict ban on alcohol compared to previous years. Unfortunately that didn’t stop the usual ratbags from turning up looking to pick a fight with anyone they could find including us!

I took this photo as we were leaving the Kodai-ji Temple just as the rain started getting heavier. These leaves are from the Japanese Maple tree which are very common in Japanese gardens. This is my first attempt at capturing raindrops in a photo.

We came across the Kodai-ji temple while taking the Southern Higashiyama walking tour in Kyoto. There are many beautiful temples, shrines and traditional shops along this tourist walk and is probably the best way to take in traditional Kyoto in one day.

On our travels through Japan, we decided to spend a day at Mt Fuji or Fuji-san as it is affectionately known. We were there during Shiba-zakura Festival in Yamanashi during the month of May. The shiba-zakura (or pink moss) covers the ground like a beautiful pink and white carpet and gave a spectacular foreground to the most famous mountain in Japan.

This is my first post from my recent holiday in Japan. This shot was taken at the famous Shubuya Crossing, Japan which is one of the busiest crossings in the world. You may even remeber this place from The Fast and the Furious, Tokyo Drift. It’s a great place to see the typically Japanese bright neon signs covering high rise buildings. As a pedestrian, crossing the road with thousands of others is actually a fun experience and crossing once is never enough.
